James Hogg describes plans for a day service for adults being developed in Dundee, Scotland, by a parent led voluntary organisation, the statutory services and a University research department. Other items include parliamentary legislation in the field of learning disabilities; the work of the Mencap Profound Intellectual and Multiple Disabilities Section which was a national Mencap initiative based in Manchester; a course for professionals on interdisciplinary work at the University of Birmingham; early communication development activities; systematic observations of activities in a specialist class in a special school; a report on the ‘Great Integration Debate Conference’ held in Manchester; and use of a white room for visual stimulation work.
