Within This Issue

The theme of this issue is Lifelong Learning. The opening article by Professor Jim Mansell sets the scene by highlighting the good practice and the barriers that need to be addressed if adults with profound disabilities and their families are to benefit from personalised support and be able to participate as active and valued members of their community. The issue then moves on to a parent’s perspective on the challenges of supporting her daughter to access the day time opportunities which are meaningful to her and a review of the support available to people with PMLD living in Lambeth. Michelle Morrison from PAMIS in Scotland writes about the resource bases that have been developed in Lanarkshire, there is more news on the Inclusive Libraries projects and an article on story telling. There is an article on the challenges of transition to adulthood and an update on the factors affecting access to Further Education for young people with PMLD. The final article looks at the use of technology and how to ensure this is used effectively and does not end up in the cupboard!
