The theme for this issue is early years and early intervention. Two articles focus on support for parents and what they need and value. There is a response to an ongoing review of nursery education with a view to introducing desirable outcomes of learning at this phase. There is suggestion for developing ‘life quilts’ to celebrate the lives of people with PMLD incorporating meaningful objects ad giving sensory experiences. The issue contains a report from a conference on Communication at Manchester Metropolitan University which summarises the key note address and several other presentations including one with an early years emphasis.
