Within This Issue

This issue focusses on the post-16 and young adult group which was an area of work which was developing rapidly for pupils with PMLD. At that time, they were beginning to participate in initiatives which would never have been dreamt of until the quite recent past. There is an early attempt to delineate principles in curriculum development for pupils with PMLD in view of the upcoming National Curriculum. There are reports from a conference on continuing education post 19 for students with PMLD, from a school enrolling students with PMLD in a City and Guilds Foundation Programme and from a FE college providing specialist provision. Also there are items about holistic massage and aromatherapy; PLANET – a partnership project between the Save the Children Fund, Mencap and The Spastics Society – focussed on developing play and leisure opportunities; and various educational visits and resources.
